Detached Garage Conversion to Indoor Golf Simulator in Fort Myers, FL

Homeowner Need

These Fort Myers homeowners had an older detached mechanic’s garage that was no longer serving much purpose beyond general storage and parking for one vehicle. They wanted to transform the underused structure into a space they could enjoy, while still addressing their need for storage and covered parking.

With the homeowner’s love of golf in mind, the opportunity emerged to create something much more personal: a dedicated indoor golf practice and entertainment space that could be enjoyed year-round, even during South Florida’s hottest and most humid months.

Solution

The Progressive Design Build team completely reimagined the detached garage as an air-conditioned indoor golf oasis centered around a Falcon golf simulator.

In addition to the simulator, the new space includes a dedicated putting and chipping green, allowing the homeowner to practice multiple aspects of the game without leaving home. A kitchenette with plumbing and ample storage creates a convenient place for drinks and refreshments, while a separate storage room houses the mechanical systems and keeps functional necessities out of the main entertaining space.

Outside, a new covered carport replaced the parking functionality lost through the garage conversion and added a Tesla charger for convenient at-home charging. The covered area also provides space for the homeowner’s Big Green Egg, extending the entertaining experience outdoors.

Solution

Completed in approximately four months, the renovation transformed an underused garage into a personalized destination for golf, relaxation, and entertaining.

The homeowner can now practice year-round in a comfortable, air-conditioned environment, enjoy the putting and chipping green, or gather with family and friends for food and drinks at their own version of the “19th hole.” Meanwhile, the new carport maintains convenient covered parking and provides a protected outdoor grilling area.
