Transitional Whole Home Remodel in Bonita Bay, FL

Need

These Bonita Springs homeowners loved their home in the Bonita Bay community but felt its heavily Tuscan-inspired finishes were beginning to look dated. Rather than undertake a complete remodel, they wanted to strategically update the home to create a lighter, more transitional aesthetic while preserving existing elements that still worked well.

Solution

The design team focused on making thoughtful, high-impact changes throughout the home while blending existing materials with carefully selected new finishes.

Entry archways and columns leading into the living and dining rooms were removed to create a more open feel. Where columns were eliminated, wood inlays were incorporated into the flooring, and the carpeted living room was updated with new wood flooring for a more cohesive transition between spaces. Throughout the home, ornate Tuscan trim details gave way to cleaner finishes, updated paint colors, and new lighting.

In the kitchen, the existing cabinetry was refaced and refinished to create a lighter, more updated appearance while making smart use of what was already there. The refrigerator wall was also reconfigured, eliminating the small desk area to accommodate a new 48-inch Sub-Zero refrigerator. The existing kitchen countertops and backsplash were retained.

The wet and dry bar areas received a more extensive refresh. Their cabinetry was refaced and refinished and paired with new countertops and backsplash materials, giving both spaces an updated look that complements the kitchen and surrounding interiors.

A new family room entertainment wall became a focal point of the renovation, featuring white oak floating cabinetry and shelving, accent puck lighting, and a textured tile wall.

Three bathrooms were also updated with new shower tile designs, countertops, lighting, and mirrors, carrying the home’s refreshed aesthetic into the private spaces.

Result

By thoughtfully blending existing elements with carefully selected updates, the home was transformed without the expense and disruption of a complete remodel. Rather than replacing materials that were still working well, the design focused the investment where it would have the greatest impact. The once heavily Tuscan interior now feels lighter, more open, and transitional while making smart use of many of the home’s original features.
