Fort Myers, FL – (January 22, 2010) Progressive Builders, Inc. has been certified by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) as an official EPA Certified Renovator. This certification allows the firm to conduct lead safe renovations and to repair painting work in pre-1978 housing and child-occupied facilities where work would disturb lead-based coatings.

A new law instituted by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on April 22, 2010, will require remodelers working in homes built before 1978 to test for lead and be certified to work in areas in the home containing lead using lead safety practices.

“Lead is extremely dangerous for both adults and children. Just a tiny amount of exposure to children can cause severe neurological damages, and can lead to hypertension, muscle and joint pain, fatigue and nausea in adults”, added Michael Spreckelmeier.

Michael R. Spreckelmeier, President of Progressive Builders, Inc. has now completed all the necessary training and is now EPA certified. By successfully completing the EPA Certified Renovator course, he has learned how to meet the lead-safe work practice standards as well as other requirements in the EPA regulation.
